Elyria road constructi­on updates

The city of Elyria announced the reopening of Gates Avenue to local traffic.

East Avenue between Fourth and 16th streets will remain closed to through traffic but remains accessible to residents within the road closure area, according to a news release.

Howe Street will be closed to through traffic from noon, Sept. 19, through 2 p.m., Sept. 20.

Also, Whitman Boulevard will be closed.

The point of excavation for the East Sewer Relief Project is at 112/113 Whitman Blvd., the release said.

There is no pass through traffic at this address and it remains blocked by equipment, the release said. The intersecti­on of Gulf Road and Whitman will remain open to local residents, according to the release.

All addresses higher than 112/113 Whitman will have access from the east; addresses lower than 112/113 Whitman will have access from Gulf Road, the release said.

Gulf Road from Hilliard Road to Burns Road remains closed to through traffic.

Also, the Elyria Water Department will have the following locations closed from Sept. 19- 20 for a water main project, according to a separate news release.

East bound Foster Avenue between Adams and Jefferson streets, and east bound Bond Street from Lake Avenue to the railroad tracks will be closed, the release said.
