Elyria police are seeking the public’s assistance in apprehending a suspect in a gas station robbery on the evening of Sept. 16.

On Sept. 16 at about 9:38 p.m. officers were detailed to Gas Go at 237 Lake Ave. following reports of an aggravated robbery, according to police captain Chris Costantino.

The 23-year-old male victim told officers after pulling into the station at 9:35 p.m. to get gas he was confronted by a black male who asked for money, stating he was homeless.

While reaching into his pockets to give the man some money the suspect pulled out two handguns described as a silver Glock and a black Glock, and demanded the victim hand over all of his money before striking him on the side of the face with one of the guns, Costantino said.

The suspect took about $300, an iPhone and two earrings before walking to the passenger side of the 2014 blue Honda Accord and demanding money from another 23-year-old passenger who gave the suspect $80 and a fake Rolex watch.

A third female passenger sitting in the backseat of the vehicle was not harmed.

The armed man then ordered everyone out of the vehicle and drove off.

The vehicle was located on Sept. 18 at about 10:45 p.m. parked in front of a residence in the 200 block of Spruce St. where it was unoccupied.

“We need to find this individual before someone gets hurt,” Costantino said.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male with a beard who was wearing a black shirt and pants, a ball cap and red shoes.
