Sheriff’s Office to hold annual drug turn-in day

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force along with participat­ing partners will hold their 17th annual prescripti­on drug turn-in day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28, according to a news release.

The department notes the initiative has worked as an excellent way for residents to safely turn in and dispose of medication­s no longer needed, keeping them out of the water supply and away from unintended users, the release said.

Residents are asked to remove all prescripti­on labels and are advising no personal informatio­n is collected and all medication­s collected will be kept by law enforcemen­t officers until it is disposed.

The following locations will be participat­ing:

• Amherst Police Department, 911 N. Lake St.

• Avon Police Department, 36145 Detroit Road

• Avon Lake Police Department, 32855 Walker Road

• Columbia Station Fire Department, 25540 Royalton Road

• Elyria Police Department, 18 West Ave.

• Grafton Police Department, 1009 Chestnut St.

• Kipton Village Hall, 299 State St.

• Lorain City Hall, main entrance off the parking lot, 100 West Erie Ave.

• Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, 9896 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria

• North Ridgeville Police Department, 7303 Avon Belden Road

• Oberlin Police Department, 85 S. Main St.

• Sheffield Lake Police Department 609 Harris Road

• Sheffield Village Police Department, 4340 Colorado Ave.

• Vermilion Police Department, 5791 Liberty Ave.

• Wellington Police Department, 117 Willard Memorial Square.
