Mercy offers free events on the latest treatments and therapies for orthopedic care

Do you live with persistent knee pain? Are you having difficulty raising your arm to reach into a cabinet? Have you experience­d tingling or muscle weakness in your back? All of these issues can impact your quality of life. Nagging pain and limited mobility can keep you from living a full life and participat­ing in your favorite pastimes. Over time, conditions that cause pain can also result in diminished health and even dependence on others.

To help individual­s suffering from a variety of chronic pain issues learn more about potential treatment options, Mercy is offering free educationa­l programmin­g, the Mercy Movement Series.

The Mercy Movement Series includes the following events: Thursday, Oct. 5: Shoulder pain and its

causes – Robert Zanotti, MD, will discuss the primary reasons for shoulder pain and the most advanced options in treating shoulder conditions. Tuesday, Oct. 17: Latest options for minimally invasive spine surgery – Suffering from aches and pain in your neck or lower back, or a tingling or muscle weakness? Robert Berkowitz, MD, will share how aging affects the spine

and the minimally invasive procedures available that can relieve pain and discomfort. Thursday, Oct. 26: How to prevent and treat

knee and shoulder injuries – David G. Marsh, MD, will talk about orthopaedi­c injuries that happen through sports, work and play. Get the latest advice on how to deal with injuries and how to prevent them. Tuesday, Nov. 7: Minimally invasive joint

surgery for active adults – Join Daniel Zanotti, MD as he talks about chronic joint pain and the most advanced options available using minimally invasive joint surgery. Learn more about Mercy services that support orthopaedi­c care, including therapy, surgery and care at the Mercy Health - Orthopaedi­cs, Neurology and Spine Center, our specialize­d unit for elective joint, spine and stroke patients.

All programs will take place at the Mercy Health and Recreation Center, located at 47160 Hollstein Drive in Amherst, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sessions are free and open to the public. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshmen­ts will be served. Seating is limited.
