Catholic Golden Agers: The Catholic Golden Agers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18, at the St. Joseph Social Hall in Amherst. The luncheon will consist of pizza, salad, pickles, chips, doughnuts, cider, cookies, and drinks. The donation is $4. Entertainm­ent is a musical program entitled “Music by Judy”. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ray Robinson, with the theme of “We’re Pressing Toward the Mark.” Avon Octoberfes­t: The Isabella Guild of Knights of Columbus, Fr. Ragan Council will host the second annual Octoberfes­t on Oct. 14, at Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Road in Avon (Next to BJ’s). This event is open to the public. The $20 admission includes a traditiona­l bratwurst dinner, dessert and one draft beer. Additional beer tickets will be available for purchase. The community-wide dinner is open to the public for an evening of fun, music and food. Adult tickets are $17.50 each or 2 for $30. Children under 8 years are $7.50. Buffetstyl­e dinner includes: pork chops, cabbage rolls, German potato salad, and more including dessert and beverage. Drive-thru dinner: St. Jude Women’s Guild, 180 7th St. Columbiana, will once again be offering drive-thru dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out starting Oct. 5 and every first Thursday of the month. The menu will include stuffed pepper, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade apple sauce, roll/ butter and dessert. Price is $8 and all proceeds will go to our “Rebuilding together in Faith, Hope & Love” campaign to renovate & expand our church. Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week. Shoppers can look forward to door prizes, a bake sale, refreshmen­ts, breakfast / lunch items, and more. $1 donation per person (kids are admitted free) is requested at the door. Local author Holly McCain will be on hand to sign her newest book “Deer Me!” (The Press). McCain recently published her fourth book, Deer Me, a story about a group of young friends and their adventures on their way to a town carnival. They face mishaps and obstacles along their path. Proceeds from the Craft Bazaar go to various Mission projects of Fields UM Church, including mission trips, support of local missionari­es and missions, North Ridgeville Community Care, and more.
