Board of Elections approves changes for vote centers

- Staff report

The Lorain County Board of Elections has approved the following changes for vote centers in five communities for the 2017 general election. Lorain County Board of Elections Director Paul Adams provided this information.

Amherst City

Precincts that previously voted at Great Lakes Church in Amherst will now vote at VFW Post 1662, 165 Cleveland Ave. This change was necessary because Great Lakes Church has moved from Amherst to Lorain and its former building is no longer accessible for voting.

Avon

A portion of voters in Avon 1-C have moved into Avon 1-E. Avon 1-E votes at Faith Lutheran Church, 2265 Garden Drive. To ensure Avon 1-C stayed under the legal requirement of no more than 1,400 voters per precinct, the precinct needed a reduction in size.

Avon Lake

A portion of voters in Avon Lake 2-C have moved into Avon Lake City 2-B. Avon Lake 2-B votes at the Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Walker Road. To ensure Avon Lake 2-C stayed under the legal requirement of no more than 1,400 voters per precinct, the precinct needed a reduction in size.

The 4th Ward of Avon Lake is now divided into four precincts; previously it was divided into three precincts. All of Avon Lake Ward 4 has and will continue to vote at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 33119 Electric Blvd.

To ensure all precincts in the 4th Ward of Avon Lake stayed under the 1,400 per precinct voter limit, an additional precinct was added to the ward.

Elyria

Precincts that previously voted at West Recreation Center now will vote at the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene, 1107 Clemens Ave. It was determined by the Ohio Secretary of State’s office and Lorain County Board of Elections that the West Recreation Center was not properly ADA compliant and a new location was needed.

North Ridgeville

The 3rd Ward of North Ridgeville is now divided into seven precincts; previously it was divided into five precincts. Changes in the 3rd Ward of North Ridgeville were necessary to ensure all precincts in the ward remained within the 1,400 per precinct limit.

The new polling places for each precinct in the 3rd ward are:

• American Legion Post 717, 8820 Bender Road: North Ridgeville City 3-A and 3-B

• LCCC Ridge Campus, 32121 Lorain Road: North Ridgeville City 3-C and 3-E

• Ridgefield Recreation Center, 870 Gatewood Drive: North Ridgeville City 3-D and 3-G

• Pioneer Ridge Community Center, 9479 Saw Mill Road: North Ridgeville City 3-F
