Lake Erie re-signs Roth as manager
The Lake Erie Crushers resigned Cam Roth as manager for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Roth, who took over the team in 2016, has a 93-99 regular-season record.
The Lake Erie Crushers announced Oct. 9 that Manager Cam Roth has been re-signed for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Roth will enter his second full season as Crushers manager after being hired mid-season in 2016.
Last season, the Crushers finished 45-51 and had three players selected to the Frontier League All-Star Game. The Crushers are 93-99 in the regular season during Roth’s time as manager.
“I would like to thank the Kraming family for granting me the opportunity to continue my career with one of the premier organizations in independent baseball,” Roth said in a statement.
“Although the time spent here has been brief, Lake Erie has quickly become the place I call home and I am ecstatic to continue to call this place home . ... After taking over baseball operations mid-season in 2016 and seeing the improvements and dedication that have transpired from the entire Lake Erie Crushers staff, off and on the field, I knew I wanted to be a part of what was happening around me for as long as possible.”
Before signing on as the Crushers’ manager, Roth served as the bench coach, pitching coach and hitting coach for the Schaumburg Boomers after retiring in his second season as a player due to multiple back surgeries.
Roth was selected in the 29th round by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2010 MLB draft.
He pitched in the Appalachian League in 2010, and with Delmarva of the Single-A South Atlantic League in 2011. He had a career record of 8-10 in affiliated leagues.
