Bake, craft sale: The Ladies Auxiliary of St. Clement Macedonian Orthodox Church, 38665 French Creek Road, Avon, will be holding a bake sale of homemade baked goods, including nut and poppy seed rolls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 4. All items are handmade. There will also be craft items for sale. The funds raised by the sale will aid the church in making very needed repairs. Gospel concert: God’s Believers in Christ Church, 520 W. 22nd St., Lorain, will host a gospel concert at 5 p.m., Oct. 29. The singers include Pastor Green and the Visionaire­s from Rochester, N.Y.; Gospel Travelers from Cleveland; Chosen Vessels from Cleveland; and from Lorain, Sunlight Gospel Singers, One Body Male Chorus, Friendship Male Chorus and New Morning Star Choir. Also, performing are soloists Brenda Folmar, Sunny Morris and Larry Robinson. Anita Taylor and New Morning Star Church as sponsors of the concert. Music fest: Lorain Faith UMC, 2201 Reid Ave., Lorain, will host a music fest 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19. The first hour will feature new as well as well-known songs. Light refreshmen­ts will be served followed by an open mic or sing-along session. Do you play an instrument? Bring it and share your music. Fall Fest: New Beginnings Church, 591 Washington St., Amherst, will host a Fall Fest from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the church. The free event will offer face-painting, crafts, food, bounce house and more. The public is welcome. Nut, poppyseed rolls for sale: Saint Vincent de Paul Altar and Rosary Society is now taking nut and poppyseed roll orders until Nov. 30. Ethnic food dinner: St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3010 Charleston Ave., Lorain, will host an ethnic food dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 4. Dinner, eat in or carry out, includes: pierogi, cabbage roll, kielbasa, sauerkraut and cabbage and noodles. Johnny Squeeze Box will be entertaini­ng dinner guests. Tickets are $15 each. Psalms: The School of Prayer: St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, invites everyone to a video and study series by Jeff Cavins entitled Psalms: The School of Prayer. The first five sessions of this 11-part series take place on Mondays and begin Oct. 16. Each session will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The series will continue through Nov. 13 and resume in February for the final six sessions. In an ecumenical spirit, Rabbi Enid Lader will kick off this Catholic series with an explanatio­n of the history and importance of these poetic Judaic prayers. All are welcome to attend the beginning session and then decide if you wish to continue the program. The cost is $25 for the study guide, but no one will be turned away because they cannot afford it. Fall Roast Beef Dinner: The United Methodist Women of Fields United Methodist Church will sponsor the Fall Roast Beef Dinner from 4:30 and 6 p.m. Oct. 21 in the church Fellowship Hall, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville. Tickets are $13 for adults 13 and up; $9 children ages 8-12; $6 children ages 4-7, and free for ages younger than 4. There will be two serving times for the family-style dinner: 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Reservatio­ns are required, and can be made by calling the church office at 440-327-8753. The UMW holds a fall dinner each year, and serving times are normally sold out well in advance. The Hospitalit­y committee of Fields UMC will also be hosting a bake sale in conjunctio­n with the Roast Beef dinner. There are no tickets sold at the door the day of the dinner. Proceeds from the Roast Beef Dinner support a variety of projects sponsored by the UMW from church improvemen­ts to Missions to scholarshi­ps, and more. Free concert: Powerhouse 5 will perform at 4 p.m., Oct. 22 at The First Church in Oberlin, UCC as part of the Music at the Meetinghou­se concert series. Admission is free and open to the public. Powerhouse 5 is an ensemble of six musicians from Northeast Ohio establishe­d in 2014 and which recently performed at ORMACO’s “Jazz Under the Stars.” This group performs the “Quintette” music of Raymond Scott (1908-1994). Catholic Golden Agers: The Catholic Golden Agers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18, at the St. Joseph Social Hall in Amherst. The luncheon will consist of pizza, salad, pickles, chips, doughnuts, cider, cookies, and drinks. The donation is $4. Entertainm­ent is a musical program entitled “Music by Judy”. Ragan Council will host the second annual Octoberfes­t on Oct. 14, at Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Road in Avon (Next to BJ’s). This event is open to the public. The $20 admission includes a traditiona­l bratwurst dinner, dessert and one draft beer. Additional beer tickets will be available for purchase. Live Polka music will be performed by The Frank Moravcik Band. The community-wide dinner is open to the public for an evening of fun, music and food. Adult tickets are $17.50 each or 2 for $30. Children under 8 years are $7.50. Buffetstyl­e dinner includes: pork chops, cabbage rolls, German potato salad, and more including dessert and beverage. Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week.
