The Bears went on the road with their rookie quarterback, and executed a conservative game plan Oct. 15.

Still, Mentor graduate Mitchell Trubisky made enough plays to deliver Chicago a 27-24 overtime victory at Baltimore.

Connor Barth’s 40-yard field goal with 2 minutes, 8 seconds remaining in overtime won it for Chicago.

The Bears ran it a whopping 54 times, and gained 231 yards.

Jordan Howard had 36 carries for 167 yards.

Trubisky threw it just 16 times, completed eight passes for 113 yards and did not throw an interception. He did throw the second touchdown pass of his career on a 27-yard completion to Dion Sims.

“Dion went up and made a great catch,” Trubisky told reporters after the game. “We needed to score in that situation. It was big.”

Trubisky also rushed for 32 yards on four carries, with a long run of 19 yards.

“Today my job was to manage (the game), take care of the football,” he said.

“We weren’t throwing it much, but the Ravens were playing coverages we weren’t expecting. They were playing two high safeties and giving up the running lane.”

Chicago led, 24-13, with five minutes to play but the Ravens rallied with 11 points to force overtime.

Hunt hits 100 again

Despite the Chiefs losing their first game of the season, a 19-13 setback to the Steelers Oct. 15, Willoughby South graduate Kareem Hunt again reached the 100-yard mark in total offense.

Hunt has had at least 100 yards of offense in all six games for Kansas City this season.

He entered the game as the NFL’s leading rusher, but managed just 21 yards on nine carries.

Hunt made up for it in the passing game. He had five receptions for a teamhigh 89 yards, including a long of 37 yards.
