- By Zachary Srnis

A man posing as a police officer pulled over a 17-year-old female at 11:20 p.m. Oct. 6 in Bay Village, according to a news release from the Bay Village Police Department.

The teen was pulled over on Rexford Avenue after the man had been following her for a short distance, the release said.

The fake officer was driving a dark SUV with a single blue light above it; no other lights commonly associated with a police vehicle were on the car, according to the release.

He is described as a white male with brown hair, over 6 feet tall and in his late 20s to early 30s, the release said.

The man was wearing a dark blue or black uniform, but had no badge, name tag or patch, according to the release, and he did not tell her what agency he worked for.

The victim was told by the imitator she was pulled over for “going left of center” and was asked if she “had done anything bad or suspicious” earlier in the evening, according to the release.

The “officer” continually showed a flashlight in the teen’s face and asked for her driver’s license and proof of insurance, the release said.

As of Oct. 12, Bay Village police have been unable to identify if this man belongs to any law enforcement agencies, according to the release.

Anyone with information should call Detective Kevin Krolkosky of the Bay Village Police Department at 440-899-3485.
