Bishop heads to Dominican Republic

Bishop Melvin L. Brown of the Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center will head to the Dominican Republic.

Bishop Melvin L. Brown of the Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center at 4545 Elyria Ave. in Lorain will head to the Dominican Republic, according to a news release.

On Aug. 4, Brown was elevated and consecrated to the office of Diocesan Bishop to the Santo Domingo Council, District 63 in the Dominican Republic at the 102nd annual convention of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc. in Nashville.

“He is ecstatic to begin God’s work in the Dominican Republic and will benefit the people in this region because of his far reaching benevolence and leadership,” the release said.

Brown has served in the pastorate of the Cathedral for the past 19 years where he presently serves as pastor and overseer in addition to serving as chairman of the board of directors for the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Churches Inc., of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.

He has served on the Ohio State Board of Battered Wives along with the board of directors of parish nursing for Lorain’s Community Health Partners Hospital.

As an evangelist, Brown has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Brown is married to his life partner, Lady Rosalee Brown. Together they have two sons, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A celebration banquet will be held in Bishop Brown’s honor on Nov. 11 at Ahern’s Banquet Center at 726 Avon Belden Road in Avon Lake.

The banquet will feature guest speaker Bishop Charles H. Ellis III, the presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc., and serves as pastor of Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple.

Brown
