Bishop heads to Dominican Republic

Bishop Melvin L. Brown of the Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center will head to the Dominican Republic.

Bishop Melvin L. Brown of the Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center at 4545 Elyria Ave. in Lorain will head to the Dominican Republic, according to a news release.

On Aug. 4, Brown was elevated and consecrate­d to the office of Diocesan Bishop to the Santo Domingo Council, District 63 in the Dominican Republic at the 102nd annual convention of the Pentecosta­l Assemblies of the World Inc. in Nashville.

“He is ecstatic to begin God’s work in the Dominican Republic and will benefit the people in this region because of his far reaching benevolenc­e and leadership,” the release said.

Brown has served in the pastorate of the Cathedral for the past 19 years where he presently serves as pastor and overseer in addition to serving as chairman of the board of directors for the Ohio District Council of Pentecosta­l Churches Inc., of the Pentecosta­l Assemblies of the World.

He has served on the Ohio State Board of Battered Wives along with the board of directors of parish nursing for Lorain’s Community Health Partners Hospital.

As an evangelist, Brown has traveled extensivel­y throughout the United States, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Brown is married to his life partner, Lady Rosalee Brown. Together they have two sons, eight grandchild­ren and two great grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n banquet will be held in Bishop Brown’s honor on Nov. 11 at Ahern’s Banquet Center at 726 Avon Belden Road in Avon Lake.
