Public ceremony at LCCC to recognize veterans
Veterans from all branches of the United States armed forces and their families are invited to a free luncheon and public Veterans Recognition Ceremony at 11:30 a.m., Nov. 1, hosted by Lorain County Community College, in collaboration with Hospice of the Western Reserve and Hospice of Medina County.
The luncheon will take place in LCCC’s Reaser Grand Room, at 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria. Doors will open at 11 a.m. The highlight of the event is a moving ceremony during which each veteran, with permission, will be recognized individually for their service and presented with a commemorative lapel pin issued by the Ohio Hospice Veteran Partnership, according to a media release.
More than 200 veterans and their families are expected to attend. The ceremony will publicly recognize all veterans; no hospice ties are necessary, the release said.
Dr. Marcia J. Ballinger, president of LCCC, is the keynote speaker.
Bill Finn, president and CEO of Hospice of Western Reserve, also will share information about the support that is offered through the “We Honor Veterans” program, which offers support for veterans and their families, stated the release.
Hospice of Western Reserve and Hospice of Medina County also are partners in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, a Department of Defense program that honors Vietnam War veterans and their families, the release said.
Registration is available online at hospicewr. org/LCCC or by calling 216430-0955. The deadline is Oct. 29.
