River Road, North, Elyria will host a turkey dinner from 4 to 6 p.m., Nov. 11, at the church. Dinners are $8 for adults and $6 for children younger than 10. The dinner includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, vegetable, roll, beverage and dessert. Carry-out will be available. For details or questions, call 440-324-1202. Ethnic food dinner: St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3010 Charleston Ave., Lorain, will host an ethnic food dinner fundraiser from 4-7 p.m., Nov. 4. Dinner is eat-in or carry-out and includes: pierogi, cabbage roll, kielbasa, sauerkraut and cabbage and noodles. Johnny Squeeze Box will entertain dinner guests. Tickets are $12 and reservatio­ns are required by calling 440-7520548. Monthly dinner: St. Mary Church, 309 W. 7th Street, Lorain will host the Monthly Dinner at 4:30 p.m., Nov. 4. Call the parish office to sign up. On the menu is: turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, roll and salad. Donation will be $10. Beverages are available. The public is welcome. Help for those grieving: GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouragin­g seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. Join the Stephen Ministers of Fields United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 in the sanctuary of Fields United Methodist Church at 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville. The cost is $5 for the workbook materials. Child care is available. The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experience­d the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestion­s and reassuranc­e. Participan­ts will get help in discoverin­g: How to deal with emotions that might hit over the holidays; What to do about traditions; Helpful tips for surviving social events and How to find hope for the future. Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with encouragin­g words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season. Fields UM Church is located 2.5 miles west of Interstate 480 /Route 10, and 3 miles east of Route 83 on Lorain Road. Erie Avenue, Lorain, will host a dinner after the 4 p.m. Mass on the first Saturday of each month. The menu will be different each month and prepared by our own St. Anthony kitchen crew. The cost of each dinner will be $10. The November Monthly Dinner will be, Nov. 4 in the Social Hall. The menu will be Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, corn, salad, bread, dessert and beverage.
