Four people, a business indicted in criminal enterprise case

A Cuyahoga County Grand jury last week indicted four people — including two from Westlake and one from North Olmsted — and a Cleveland business on criminal enterprise related charges, according to a media release from the Ohio Investigat­ion Unit..

In August, the Ohio Investigat­ive Unit along with the Cleveland Division of Police and Mentor Police Department conducted a search warrant at 185 Gas Inc., 1201 E. 185th St., the release said.

The grand jury indicted the business, Westlake residents Ameer Hamdan, 27, and Samih Hamdan, 52, and Yakoub Hamdan, 50, of North Olmsted, and Mary Ronning, 63, of Cleveland, each on one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a second-degree felony, one count of conspiracy, a third-degree felony, and one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony, the release said.

The business and Ameer Hamdan also were indicted on one count of tampering with records, a third-degree felony, seven counts of telecommun­ications fraud, a fifth-degree felony, one count of sale or use of drugs not approved by the FDA, a fifth-degree felony, and three counts of receiving stolen property, a second-degree misdemeano­r, according to the release.

The grand jury also indicted Ameer Hamdan on seven counts and the business on six counts of traffickin­g in or illegal use of food stamps, a fifth-degree felony, the release said.

Yakoub Hamdan was indicted on three counts of receiving stolen property, five counts of telecommun­ications fraud, six counts of traffickin­g in or illegal sale of food stamps, and one count of falsificat­ion, a first-degree misdemeano­r, according to the release.

The grand jury indicted Ronning on four counts of telecommun­ications fraud and five counts of traffickin­g in or illegal sale of food stamps, the release said.

Samih Hamdan also was indicted on three counts of telecommun­ications fraud and traffickin­g in or illegal sale of food stamps, according to the release.

During the search warrant, agents seized $5,368 in U.S. currency, two firearms and business records, the release said.

If convicted, the suspects could face jail time and fines.
