- — Staff report

Elyria police arrested a 47-year-old Lagrange man during a traffic stop after they say he possessed cocaine and heroin

Bill Stanley was charged with one count of possession of cocaine and Heroin when he was arrested about 7 p.m., Nov. 1, in the 500 block of Huron Street, according to an Elyria police report.

Stanley was on the right lane on Lake Avenue and was fading to the left prompting an officer to move right, into oncoming traffic, the report said.

Stanley turned onto Gateway Boulevard and the officer caught up to him and conducted the traffic stop on Huron, according to the report.

Stanley told the officer he faded into the left lane because he was answering his cellphone, the report said.

The officer noticed Stanley was shaking and avoiding eye contact as the officer was asking him questions, according to the report.

Stanley, while getting out of his vehicle, started to put his left hand in his left-pants pocket to throw an object, but the officer was able to handcuff him and push him against the car, the report said.

Officers then noticed a clear plastic bag which contained cocaine and a plastic bottle, that fell from Stanley’s person, which contained heroin, the report said.

Stanley was transported to the Lorain County Jail and will remain there until his Elyria Municipal Court date, according to the report.
