AAA awards police departments for efforts
AAA East Central continued its tradition this year of honoring local police departments for their outstanding efforts in making their communities safer for all modes of travel.
“We’re honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program,” said AAA East Central Safety Advisor Lori Cook in a news release. “Each organization has gone above and beyond their call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents.”
The Platinum awards are given to “Commendable Leaders” for their safety efforts and enforcement activities geared toward making communities safer. Locally, Westlake Police Department was a recipient of the award.
Gold awards, the second highest recognition to be given, were awarded to police departments in Elyria, Highland Heights and North Ridgeville.
Silver awards were given to police departments in: Avon Lake, Norwalk and Willard.
A Bronze Award was given to the Lorain Police Department.
AAA East Central conducts a variety of free highway safety programs throughout Ohio focusing on all age groups, the release stated. The club also partners with law enforcement and safety agencies on initiatives to improve the safety of the community and local highways.
