AAA awards po­lice de­part­ments for ef­forts

AAA East Cen­tral con­tin­ued its tra­di­tion this year of hon­or­ing lo­cal po­lice de­part­ments for their out­stand­ing ef­forts in mak­ing their com­mu­ni­ties safer for all modes of travel.

“We’re hon­ored to rec­og­nize these lo­cal de­part­ments for their ef­forts in the Com­mu­nity Traf­fic Safety Pro­gram,” said AAA East Cen­tral Safety Ad­vi­sor Lori Cook in a news re­lease. “Each or­ga­ni­za­tion has gone above and be­yond their call of duty to make their com­mu­nity a safer place for mo­torists and res­i­dents.”

The Plat­inum awards are given to “Com­mend­able Lead­ers” for their safety ef­forts and en­force­ment ac­tiv­i­ties geared to­ward mak­ing com­mu­ni­ties safer. Lo­cally, West­lake Po­lice Depart­ment was a re­cip­i­ent of the award.

Gold awards, the sec­ond high­est recog­ni­tion to be given, were awarded to po­lice de­part­ments in Elyria, High­land Heights and North Ridgeville.

Silver awards were given to po­lice de­part­ments in: Avon Lake, Nor­walk and Wil­lard.

A Bronze Award was given to the Lo­rain Po­lice Depart­ment.

AAA East Cen­tral con­ducts a va­ri­ety of free high­way safety pro­grams through­out Ohio fo­cus­ing on all age groups, the re­lease stated. The club also part­ners with law en­force­ment and safety agen­cies on ini­tia­tives to im­prove the safety of the com­mu­nity and lo­cal high­ways.
