Lorain native Jaclyn Bradley Palmer will appear on “The Voice of Holland,” the original program that Americans know simply as “The Voice,” according to a news release.

The television show, which originated in Holland, showcases singing talent who perform for coaches who can only hear, but not see them.

Coaches who are successful singers in the industry face toward a live studio audience until they hear a talent they are interested in coaching. Once coaches have shown interest in a singer, they press a button and turn to face the singer, inviting them to be on their team. After being selected by a coach, contestants move forward to face an opponent in a singing battle.

According to the release, Palmer is the only American featured this season.

The episode will feature her blind audition to the public at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 17.

The show will air in Holland on RTL4, and clips will be available for viewing immediately afterward on YouTube.

Palmer said her audition performance will be dedicated to her uncle John Gallo, a staple in Lorain and a family treasure who passed away this week.

Gallo won a singing competition on the radio when he was a teenager, and she said she hopes to follow in his footsteps.

Palmer, who is thrilled to be auditioning for the Dutch program, says that music is her first language, the release said.

Singing since childhood, she studied voice throughout her adolescence and attended Interlochen Arts Camp where she received a scholarship to attend Indiana University’s School of Music, concentrating on classical opera.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, Palmer lived in New York and Los Angeles where she began writing her own music.

She performed her original music on both coasts and has had her compositions featured on MTV, VH1, HGTV, Bravo and TLC.

Palmer has recorded three full length studio albums — two in the United States and one in Holland. She also has a master’s degree in music therapy, receiving her training from Colorado State University.

When not performing, she can be found at a hospital, using music to help others at a crucial time.

Palmer moved to the city of Utrecht, Holland, with her husband, Oliver, an engineer, and daughter Roma, age 3, in 2015.

She also was honored by Cleveland Magazine, which named her as of one of the city’s most interesting people in 2016.

Palmer said she is excited to share her talent with “The Voice of Holland” and representing America as an artist abroad.

“It is the opportunity of a lifetime,” she said. “To be sharing my voice with the world is a distinct honor, and I am so very grateful.

“No matter where I live or travel, I’m always a Lorainite at heart. And I am extremely proud to be representing the shores of Lake Erie.”
