Holiday Bazaar celebrates season
The Oberlin Business Partnership held their annual Oberlin Holiday Bazaar at The Hotel at Oberlin, a family-friendly event that celebrated Oberlin’s traditional Festival of Trees.
“This is a holiday event in the truest sense,” said Janet Haar, executive director of the Oberlin Business Partnership. “We have Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves and Disney-themed characters for kids.”
Haar said the event, held at 10 E. College St., also featured vendors from Oberlin and the surrounding areas.
“We have over thirty local vendors here,” she said. “We also have 50/50 raffles, face paint, balloon animals and other activities.”
Haar said the proceeds of the holiday bazaar benefit Oberlin.
“The event is essentially a fund raiser for Oberlin,” she said. “The Oberlin Business Partnerships seeks to improve the Oberlin community and make it a prosperous one. Events, like the holiday bazaar, allow us to do just that.”
Sue Robinson of Oberlin was enjoying the event with her two granddaughters, June and Joanna Tatum.
“The whole thing is kinda cool,” Robinson said. “First time we’ve been here so we justed wanted to come and check it out. Events around this time of year are usually pretty nice and it gives the kids something to do and get excited about.”
Tammy Zifcak, of Pittsfield, was with her grandchildren as they went from taking their picture with Santa to getting their faces painted.
“This is my first time here,” she said. “The kids were really excited to see Santa. I glad there is an event like this where the kids can do all these things.”
