Lorain man accused of strangling woman

A 38-year-old Lorain man is accused of strangling a woman during a domestic dispute, according to a police report.

On Nov. 23 at 4:16 a.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbanc­e at a residence in the 2700 block of McKinley St. in Lorain.

After driving to pick up another male who lives in the residence, the 39-yearold victim told police the man was highly intoxicate­d and an argument ensued and continued until they arrived back at their residence.

Michael Meinke, 38, of Lorain is charged with one count of domestic violence. He is currently being held at the Lorain City Jail.

According to the report, while the woman was sitting on the couch Meinke was hovering over her with a clenched fist stating “I’m going to kill you” before strangling her.

A struggle ensued and the victim attempted to fight back, tearing her shirt, before escaping from the house.

Meinke allegedly followed the woman outside and threw a beer bottle at her car at which point police were called.

Police observed scratches to the woman’s face and chest but she declined medical attention. When police asked Meinke how the woman got the scratches on her, he did not answer who officers noted was highly intoxicate­d.

Officers also observed a scratch to Meinke’s face who stated the victim scratched him.
