Clothing can invite sexual harassment

-

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, DToledo, who does not represent me, is absolutely correct when she stated that clothing choices of some female lawmakers and staff members is an “invitation” for sexual harassment. While this does not give the opposite sex the right to harass, it helps to explain why this happens.

It is almost unbelievable seeing what some people wear. I have seen women in shops wearing shorts that are much too short, going bra-less and with blouses opened. Men and women in pants so tight you wonder how long it takes to put them on.

Go to church on a Sunday and you might wonder if some people have any morality left. Men with pants which appear as if there is no underwear below and women with either seethrough dresses or dress hems so high that if they bend over, you could see all, or a dress so tight you wonder how they can walk. And do any schools have a dress code anymore?

Sexual harassment is a twoway street.

Both men and women will harass as long as the opposite sex continues to dress in a way that invites others to look at those who put on a sexual display.

Tell me that you do not look or don’t believe what you see. No, it does not give anyone the right to harass, but as long as the display continues, harassment will continue to happen. Henry M. Niedzwiecki
