Thanks to all who supported program

On behalf of the Home Instead Senior Care office located in North Ridgeville, we would like to thank the community for its overwhelming support of the Be a Santa to a Senior program this holiday season.

The program provides gifts and companionship to seniors who may otherwise not have a gift under the tree this Christmas or someone with whom to share the holiday.

In Lorain County, members of the community generously donated gifts for more than 200 area seniors through this year’s program— all of which were wrapped and delivered by volunteers, in time for holidays. Many of the gifts were for everyday needs such as socks, pajamas, blankets and toiletries, or a pharmacy gift card.

We would like to especially thank our community partners who helped make this program possible, including Avon Brewing Company, Tuffy Auto Service Centers on Cleveland Street and Leona in Elyria, Lorain County Clerk of Courts: Civil, Criminal and Records Departments, United Church of Huntington, Community of Faith United Church of Christ in Elyria, First Federal Lakewood in North Ridgeville, Bread and Brew and Village Market, both in Wellington, Walmart in Elyria, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Elyria and Amy’s Hallmark Store in Avon.

Over the past several weeks, these organizations have brightened the holidays by bringing both gifts and companionship to seniors in need across the area.

Be a Santa to a Senior is a nationwide program that started in 2003. Since then, it has helped provide nearly two million gifts to more than 700,000 seniors across the country.

This could only have been accomplished with the help of more than 60,000 volunteers.
