Pray the rosary: All faiths and all nations are invited to pray the Rosary of the Unborn with us at St. Anthony of Padua Church, in the Eucharisti­c Chapel, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the first Saturday of every month. The first one will be Jan. 6. Rosaries are prayed the first Saturday of every month, every half hour, on the hour. Catholic Golden Agers to meet: The Catholic Golden Agers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 17 in the Social Hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Amherst. Members are asked to bring their own sandwiches. Soup and crackers, pickles, cookies and drinks will be provided. Executive board members are providing the soup, but members are also welcomed to bring a favorite soup. The donation is $2. The meeting will also include bingo for $1 per card. Prizes will be awarded to winners. A raffle and short meeting will take place. Bring used or new items for the flea market table. For questions or informatio­n, call Pattie at 440-2225981. The meeting is automatica­lly canceled if there is no school in Amherst or if icy or snowy conditions develop the morning of the meeting. The Three Kings: Christ Lutheran Church, 4501 Clinton Ave., Lorain, will host a program called “The Three Kings” Jan. 6. The program has been done since 1987 and people in need are asked to join members for a dinner, a small program explaining what and who the three Kings are followed by a passing out of gifts to the children in attendance. The entire program is funded by Lake Ridge Academy. Lake Ridge Academy has helped with the program for 30 years. The students decorate the hall, help with set up, buy and wrap the presents for the children and help to serve the meal prepared by Christ Lutheran. Lake Ridge has a food drive that is then donated to the food pantry at Christ Lutheran. This year the academy donated over 20,000 cans of food and the students also raise funds to help pay for the dinner. A letter acknowledg­ing that support from the mayor of Lorain will be presented to the school at the program on Jan. 6. For further details, call 440277-6123. Polka Mass: St. Frances Cabrini Altar and Rosary Society (former St. John), at the corner of Grove Avenue and Homewood Drive in Lorain, will host a Polka Mass at 11 a.m. Jan. 14, 2018. All are welcome. Immediatel­y following will be a stuffed pork chop dinner/polka party in the social hall. Doors open at noon. Music for the Mass and dancing is provided by Ed Klimczak, with dinner being served from noon to 3 p.m. Adult tickets cost $15 per person. Children age 3 and under eat free. There is a children’s menu of hot dog and mac and cheese for $5 per child. There will be a Chinese raffle, 50⁄50 and a children’s game corner. To purchase tickets, call the rectory at 440-277-7266. Worship service: Community Congregati­onal United Church of Christ, 379 S. Main St. Amherst, hosts worship service and Sunday School (for ages 3 and older) at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week. Messy Church: Messy Church will be 4 to 6 p.m., the first Sunday of each month, at First United Methodist Church of Wellington, 127 Park Place. This will be a hands-on, interactiv­e way to worship as a family, involving story, prayer, song, games and a sit-down meal together at tables. People of all ages, adults and children are welcome. Free community meal: On the last Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Journey of Faith Church in North Ridgeville cooks and serves a fresh hot meal for those in need in the community. This is done in connection with Community Care in North Ridgeville and other churches in the area. The community meal provides more than a hot meal though. It provides a time to sit down and relax with others in the community while being cared for.
