Portion of Lake Road to close
The shutdown will last for 60 days beginning in late January
A portion of Lake Road in Avon Lake will shut down for 60 days starting in late Jan. for construction related to the 45 Area Combined Sewer Separation.
According to the Avon Lake Board of Municipal Utilities sewer lines are being installed on Lake Road between the two ends of North Point Drive and is scheduled to begin on Jan. 29.
Originally slated to begin on Jan. 15, the closure has been pushed back due to recent weather and Todd Danielson, Chief Utilities Executive of Avon Lake Regional Water left open the possibility that it could be delayed an additional week stretching into February.
“There’s a chance it might get postponed another week. We are working with a contractor to find out what the best date would be,” said Avon Lake Regional Water Chief Utilities Executive Todd Danielson.
Danielson said Avon Lake Regional Water officials are in contact with the City of Avon Lake and neighboring municipalities who will be affected by the planned closure.
“We are working various representatives at the city,” Danielson added.
As the start date gets closer, traffic detours will be announced. Residents living in the direct vicinity of the construction are
expected to be notified two to three weeks prior to the start of construction.
The closure will affect about 1,100 feet of Lake Road for the planned 45 Area sewer separation located just east of Lear Road and south of Lake Road. Property owners living in this part of the city presently
have until June 30, 2019 to have their properties inspected and have any necessary work completed. However, a draft plan under consideration by the Board could extend the deadline for the 45s to Nov. 30, 2019.
“With the time of year that it is, the contractor hopes that it will be shorter and has historically been able to do things more quickly than that. However, look at the weather we’ve had,” he said.
