Police arrested a woman they say was using a firearm in her front yard while intoxicated.

Celeste L. Singer, 20, of Lorain, is facing charges of having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony; using a weapon while intoxicated, domestic violence, carrying concealed weapons, and underaged consumption of alcohol, all first-degree misdemeanors; plus discharging a firearm on prohibited premises, a fourthdegree misdemeanor, after she was found fighting with her sister over a gun at 12:14 a.m., Jan. 12, according to a Lorain police report.

Officers said they found Singer and her sister, a 24-year-old Lorain woman, fighting for the firearm, and a laser on the firearm was pointed toward the officers.

Singer’s sister ripped the gun out of her hands and placed it on the ground, the report said.

Her sister told police Singer was taken to Mercy Health Lorain 90 minutes prior to the incident because she couldn’t walk or speak, according to the report.

Singer, when she returned from the hospital, immediately ran into her residence and retrieved the firearm.

She fired two shots into the air prompting her sister to chase after her, the report said.

Singer told police she found the gun in the woods and wanted to see if it still worked.

Officers noted despite the fact Singer was released from the hospital, she still was highly intoxicated during the incident, the report said.

Singer was taken to the Lorain County Jail.
