In a series of indictments filed Jan. 17, seven men have been charged in connection with an Oct. 25 robbery and shooting.
According to Elyria police Capt. Christopher Costantino, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Stanford Avenue, for reports of shots fired.
The officers met with 25-year-old Randall J. Scarbro whose house had been hit with bullets.
At the time, a white SUV was reported as the suspect’s vehicle after it was seen fleeing the area, but Scarbro did not allow detectives to check surveillance camera footage from his home and was not cooperative with police, Costantino said.
Costantino said stories conflicted amongst the victims, but detectives eventually were able to review the surveillance video from Scarbro’s home after getting a search warrant.
Upon review of that footage, officers were able to discern that Anthony T. Oliver, 21, of Elyria, had come to the house to sell Scarbro and five other men marijuana. When Oliver arrived, the six men robbed him of the drugs and approached him indicating they were armed, Costantino said.
Oliver fled the area, then picked up a friend and returned to the area where he fired multiple shots at the house, and the six men who robbed him, Costantino said.
In indictments released Jan. 17, Randall J. Scarbro; Christopher Scarbro, 27, of Elyria; Cody Jones, 28, of Elyria; Terry L. Nelson Jr., 24, of Wellington; Matthew R. Standen, 25, of Elyria; and Steven R. Standen, 21, of Elyria, were each charged with one count of robbery, two counts of aggravated riot, falsification and obstructing official business.
Oliver was indicted on two counts of felonious assault and single counts of discharging a firearm at a habitation or school zone and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
In a separate indictment connected to his arrest, Oliver was also charged with failure to comply, obstructing official business, possessing criminal tools, two counts of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
