Mercy Health — Home Health Care named in the top 25 percent of home health agencies in the country

-

When a loved one comes home from the hospital and needs continuing care, families are faced with a decision of where to call for in-home services. It may be that a patient needs additional physical therapy following a stroke or assistance from a registered nurse to help manage a chronic medical condition. Either way, it is important that in-home care is provided by a team of skilled and compassionate medical professionals that helps each patient remain comfortable at home.

You can be sure that when you call Mercy Health — Home Health Care of Lorain that you are getting that level of quality care. Recently, the agency received a 2017 Award of Excellence from ABILITY Network. The award is based on publicly available data from Home Health Compare and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Cost Reports and an analysis of five distinct areas: quality of care, quality improvement and consistency, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial performance. These are important measures that objectively analyze an agency’s performance across the board.

ABILITY Network, a leading information technology company in the healthcare industry, selects the best providers based on this unbiased, comprehensive analysis of home care agencies and their overall performance. Each area is compared against other home care agencies in their state and nationwide and then combined to create a combined score for each agency. More than 9,000 agencies were included in the 2017 comparison.

“Mercy Health — Home Health Care is another example of our mission in action,” noted Dana Traxler, director of Mercy Heath- Home Health Care. “Our mission drives us to deliver high quality care to everyone who needs it in our community. Home-based care is a big part of how we serve patients and families – in a setting where they are most comfortable and can receive treatment or services to keep them out of the hospital. We not only focus on the physical care of our home care patients, but also the important spiritual and emotional needs they may have.

“This award is quite an achievement and gives patients and families the reassurance that they are being cared for by a professional and caring staff that is committed to the highest standards of care.”
