Three suspects arrested in fatal shooting

Elyria police have arrested three suspects in the Jan. 23 fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Elyria man, according to an Elyria police news release.

Kajaun J. Anderson, 18, of Elyria, is facing a charge of aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, in the death of Cody Snyder, the release said.

The other two suspects are 16-year-old and 17-year-old juveniles and currently are being held at Lorain County Juvenile Detention Home.

Anderson will be held at the Lorain County Jail, without bond, until his Elyria Municipal Court date Jan. 25, the release said.

The incident began when Elyria police responded to shots fired in the area of 162 Clinton Ave. at 8:37 p.m., Jan. 23, according to an earlier Elyria police news release.

While en route, they were notified of a man running through backyards near Bell Avenue.

Officers could not locate any evidence of a shooting when they arrived at the scene.

At 8:47 p.m., an officer was walking toward the emergency entrance at UH Elyria Medical Center when he noticed a car pull up quickly to the emergency

room doors.

The officer quickly responded to a male in the vehicle who was yelling

for help.

The officer saw Snyder who was lying on the front passenger seat unresponsi­ve and covered in blood, according to the release.

The driver of the vehicle told the officer Snyder

had been shot and the officer and emergency room staff were able to get then man onto a gurney, the release said.

Snyder was taken to the emergency room, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
