No. 10 Midview vs. No. 21 Westlake
What: Brooklyn District sectional semifinal When: 2:20 p.m., Feb. 17 Where: Brooklyn’s John M. Coyne Recreation Center, 7600 Memphis Ave., Brooklyn Records: Midview 10-8-3, Westlake 5-17-0 For the record: Midview is fresh off of an 8-0 win over Bay in the Brooklyn District first round, a game in which the Middies got some playing time for those who don’t see the ice as much. ... Westlake has had a rough season, but one that has shown tremendous growth from its one-win campaign last season . ... The Demons are arguably playing their best hockey, winning two of their last three. Additionally, four of their last nine games have been decided in overtime, meaning Westlake is keeping close in games . ... This is the first time these teams have faced each other since they were both members of the GCHSHL White West in the 2015-16 season . ... It will be interesting to see how the Demons fare after 14 days without a game . ... The Middies can be poised for a bit of a playoff run, but need to avoid costly mistakes that have at times plagued them this year. Behm’s pick: Midview

What: Brooklyn District sectional semifinal When: 5 p.m., Feb. 17 Where: Brooklyn’s John M. Coyne Recreation Center, 7600 Memphis Ave., Brooklyn Records: Padua 3-28-0, Rocky River 21-10-0 For the record: Padua was taken to the limit by a very game North Olmsted squad in a Brooklyn District firstround game. The Bruins emerged victorious, 4-3, in overtime after coughing up a late lead in the third period . ... The Pirates are riding an emotional high following their 2-1 Baron Cup I victory over Shaker Heights, which has topped plenty of GLHL teams and can even boast a tie against St. Edward . ... Senior forward Ted Stueber has been on fire for the Pirates as of late, posting a hat trick against Midview before scoring a goal against both Strongsville and Midview during the Baron Cup I run . ... The Pirates defense has been on point as well, allowing an average of 1.8 goals per game over Rocky River’s last 10 games, during which the Pirates are 8-2 . ... For Padua, CJ Talion has been a load all season for opposing defenses. In the win against North Olmsted, the senior scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime. ... You can’t let Padua hang around, or they might bite you late.

No. 11 Avon Lake vs. No. 9 Olmsted Falls
What: Brooklyn District sectional semifinal When: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 17 Where: Brooklyn’s John M. Coyne Recreation Center, 7600 Memphis Ave., Brooklyn
Records: Avon Lake 26-60, Olmsted Falls 15-11-0 For the record: Boy, was I wrong about the Shoremen in their last outing . ... Avon Lake showed guts facing off against Baron Cup II champion Amherst, erasing a 3-0 deficit to keep Amherst off the board in the final two periods and force an extra frame . ... Seniors Jared Aslaksen and Connor Koncelik have played like men on a mission for the Shoremen, combining for all four goals against Amherst. Expect another heavy dose of those two against the Bulldogs . ... Olmsted Falls is coming off of a tough Baron Cup II loss to Amherst, which makes this one an interesting one, as Avon Lake managed to do what Olmsted Falls fell just short of completing in the 5-4 loss to the Comets . ... That could mean tough things for Avon Lake, though, as Olmsted Falls will be motivated and angry. The Bulldogs are already a physical team under normal circumstances, but the motivation to show that the Baron Cup loss was a slipup combined with the lose-and-go-home mentality of the playoffs means Olmsted Falls will come out harder than ever . ... With that being said, Avon Lake is a Blue Division team that can hit like a White Division team. The Shoremen have some big bodies and should be able to reach the same physicality as the Bulldogs . ... Watch out for Olmsted Falls junior Dom Conte. He is a speedy skater with deceiving hands. But don’t focus on him too much as Zach Henley has been coming on strong and is more than capable of making teams pay . ... This is the third time these teams have faced this year, with Avon Lake claiming the first game, 10-2, on Nov. 25, while the Bulldogs bested the Shoremen during the Southwestern Conference tournament, 6-3, on Jan. 14 . ...
