Jim D. Hastings, 72 of Lodi, Ohio passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Lodi Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1945 in Lodi to Dale and Althea (Tootie) Hughes Hastings. Jim graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1963 and later served as a medic with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the B.F. Goodrich Retirees Club, and had received the Wise Owl Safety Award from the Avon Lake Plant where he had worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lodi American Legion, and had a love for Lake Erie where he enjoyed boating and jet skiing.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Kathleen berger Hastings, Children, Jeffrey (Renee) Hastings of Bay Village, Craig (Christan) Hastings of Medina, Scott (Denise) Hastings of Avon, Joseph (Jana) Smithberge­r of West Salem, Thomas (Melissa) Smithberge­r of Spencer, Laura berger of Lodi, Hastings Grandchild­ren, Nicholas (fiancé Jessica), Emily, Zachary, Noah, Joshua, Tobias, and Grace. Smithberge­r Grandchild­ren, Macey, Nathan, Tommy, Rachel, Megan, and Michael Ives, Sister, Jane (Joe) Notch of Canal Fulton, Nieces, Jennifer (Chris) Glover and Lori Chapman, both of Canal Fulton and his little pal Buddy.

A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Heartland Community Church, 3400 Weymouth Rd., Medina, OH. Pastor Dave brose will officiate.

A Private Family inurnment with military honors will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
