Residents indicted on federal drug charges
Two Lorain residents were indicted in federal court along with seven others from Akron, Barberton and North Canton on drug charges following a two-year investigation, according to a news release.
Ajarae C. Hisle, 27 and Jamar J. Jackson, 28, are facing charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl and at least 9.65 grams of carfentanil between May 2016 and February 2018, according to the release.
“This case demonstrates the lengths drug dealers will go to in order to obtain deadly drugs to feed the addiction of their customers,” said FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen D. Anthony. “This group flaunted their lucrative drug trafficking organization proceeds by purchasing homes, cars and other items in an attempt to hide their cash.
“The FBI will continue working with our law enforcement partners to help rid our communities of the individuals that bring poison to our streets.”
The indictment alleges the defendants were involved in a conspiracy to obtain large amounts of fentanyl and carfentanil from China for distribution in Akron and Lorain.
Prosecutors are seeking to forfeit more than $280,000 in cash, two firearms and ammunition seized as part of the investigation in addition to a house in the 2900 block of Popham Street in Akron.
