Sports shorts Tiger looks like Woods of old at Valspar MLB
Tiger Woods put on a show before thousands of fans at the Valspar Championship. Corey Conners settled for a quiet afternoon and the lead.
Gaining momentum with every round, Woods looked sharp Friday with four birdies and kept a clean card at Innisbrook until his last hole. He still shot a 3-under 68 and was two shots out of the lead going into the weekend.
Woods and his army of fans were walking off the course about the time Conners was getting started. The Canadian rookie made three quick birdies until a careless double bogey on No. 4, his 13th hole of the round. He still shot a 69 for his first 36-hole lead.
Paul Casey, Brandt Snedeker, Ryan Palmer and Kelly Kraft joined Woods two shots out of the lead.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who appeared in six games last season.
He is 35 years old and has played 13 seasons in the NFL. He returns on a one-year contract.
Fitzpatrick started three games while filling in for injured Jameis Winston in 2017. He completed 96 of163 passes for 1,103 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions.
He also has played for the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and New York Jets.
Fitzpatrick was drafted by the Rams out of Harvard in 2005 in the seventh round. His 173 passing touchdowns are the most by an Ivy League quarterback.
Facebook is getting deeper into the professional sports streaming game, signing a deal with Major League Baseball to air 25 afternoon games in an exclusive deal.
The games will be available to Facebook users in the U.S. on Facebook Watch, the company’s video feature, via the MLB Live show page. Facebook said Friday that recorded broadcasts will also be available globally.
