No. 11 Strongsville vs. No. 1 Lorain

What: Division I Elyria District final When: 7 p.m., March 10 Where: Elyria Catholic HIgh School, 725 Gulf Road, Elyria For the record: Lorain (195) is back in a district final for the fourth straight year and is on a mission after last season’s disappointing loss to Elyria. The TItans were tested in the semifinal in a way they haven’t been this postseason as No. 4 MIdview put up a tough, physical fight while the officials gave them no favors. Devon Grant and Taevon Pierre-Louis, Lorain’s standout juniors, stepped up like they have all season, though. Grant finished with a game-high 29 points, including four 3-pointers, and PierreLouis added 25 points and 11 rebounds and, at this point, the TItans go as they go. On the other hand, Strongsville (7-18) has strung together several upsets, including a huge 63-44 win over No. 3 Elyria in a sectional final. These teams met all the way back in Week 2 of the regular season with Lorain winning, 64-59, but so much has changed since then and the Titans have only gotten better as they have honed a defense that has flustered teams all season. It’s Lorain’s game to lose. McNees’ pick: Lorain

No. 2 Bay vs. No. 1 Holy Name

What: Division II North Ridgeville District final When: 4 p.m., March 10 Where: North Ridgeville High School, 34600 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville For the record: The Great Lakes Conference co-champions met a little over a month ago in what was a huge 104-95 win for Bay (18-6), and every indication points to another thriller in this matchup. In last season’s district final at North Ridgeville, Holy Name pulled off a onepoint win over the Rockets and the March 10 contest once again features two of Northeast Ohio’s premier players in Holy Name’s Dwayne Cohill and Bay’s R.J. Sunahara. The Rockets lost all three meetings with Holy Name last season but have now figured out the key to success against the Green Wave. Bay used its defense to beat Fairview in the semifinals but needs to rediscover its offense that was averaging over 75 points per game by early February and role players will have to fill in the blanks. In what is a true tossup here, Bay’s loss in last year’s district final almost gives it a slight edge as the Rockets will be out for revenge.

McNees’ pick: Bay McNees’ record: 23-7
