Police: Man arrested after trying to flee

Elyria police charged Demitryuss A. Bryant, 31, of Lorain, with obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony; driving under suspension, a firstdegree misdemeanor; and reckless operation, a minor misdemeanor; according to an Elyria police report.

Police responded to the area of Lake Avenue and Route 113 for report of a male who was assaulting a female while driving at 1 a.m. March 12.

The vehicle was found heading east on Adams Street moving at 80 mph, swerving between lanes and nearly colliding with an officer’s vehicle, the report said.

The man exited the vehicle on Warden Avenue and ran toward Sheriff Street. He was later found wedged between the bridge deck and bridge support of the Ohio Turnpike Overpass near Sheriff Street, the report stated.

He was arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail.
