ELYRIA CHOIR SHINES

-

The Elyria High School choir department earned a giant feather in its cap recently after hosting the OMEA District 4 Large Group Choir Contest at the high school. Thirty choirs from more than 20 districts and more than 70 students from EHS helped run the successful event. To top it all off, the EHS A Cappella choir scored an overall rating of 1, the highest rating possible for choirs. This qualifies the group to compete at the state choir competition on April 20 or 21 at Highland High School. According to Director Kaylee Bondzio, this is a huge accomplishment for students in A Cappella because it was only the group’s second year going to contest, and it competed at a higher class. This means the group had to prepare more difficult pieces and sight-read at a more advanced level, and they were adjudicated with more scrutiny.
