Lorain grad Harris plays in NCAA tourney
Dayton redshirt senior Alex Harris is not quite ready to talk about the end of her college career.
And why should she be ready? It isn’t done yet.
The 2013 Lorain graduate is hoping for six more games and a trip to Columbus at the end of March for a chance to battle for the NCAA Division I title.
“We aren’t done yet,” Harris said March 15. “We want to win tomorrow, and then win again and win again. We want this season to go as long as we can make it go.”

we are,” Harris said. “But it’s everyone. We all want to win and we’re all doing what we can to make that happen.”
As for beating Marquette, Harris said the Flyers will need to do something that is right in her wheelhouse: Control the boards.
“That’s going to be a big part of the game,” Harris said. “If we can control the paint and get rebounds, we’re going to be in a good position.”
And, although Harris was not ready to talk about the end of the season, she was more than willing to reflect on the journey to this point, particularly what it means to be a success story from Lorain.
“It’s a great feeling,” she said. “There’s kids that look up to me and people following what I do. It’s a great feeling to be making them proud. To be making Lorain proud.”
She also said she had some advice she would give to herself as a Lorain senior if she could.
“Enjoy it, but be ready to work,” Harris said. “It’s not easy, but the hard work is worth it.”
She added with a laugh: “And take care of your knees. I’m definitely feeling it a bit now.”
