Police are seeking help to identify a person of interest in one of the two shootings at the Beachwood Place Mall.
Beachwood police are seeking the public’s help to identify a person of interest involved in one of the two shootings that took place March 17 at the Beachwood Place Mall.
The person is connected to the second shooting that took place that day after 3 p.m. According to police, a 17-year-old female sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
The incident occurred just inside the main entrance of the mall where one gunshot was heard.
Police said that upon intensive investigation, it does not appear that any purposeful assault took place.
Police said that man was last seen leaving in a darkcolored Jeep Wrangler. Anyone with information is asked to contact Beachwood police at 216-4641234.
The first shooting that day occurred at about 3 p.m. Police received reports of shots fired outside the mall. Officers found two adult males involved in the shooting. One was detained and transported to the Beachwood jail for questioning.
The other suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to the hospital after an officer performed emergency measures that may have been lifesaving.
The man remained under police supervision at the hospital until he was transported to the city jail on March 19 for processing. A handgun and a large amount of cash were recovered at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to process evidence found at the scene.
Police are working closely with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. After consultation, no charges will be filed until all evidence has been analyzed by BCI.
