JVS culinary students excel at regional

Lorain County JVS Culinary Arts and Bakery & Pastry Arts students shined at the recent Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Regional Competition held at Lorain County Community College.

The FCCLA State Competition will take place April 25-27 in Columbus.

The JVS students who competed are listed below by the student’s associate school.

AMHERST: Kailey Hoopes, Culinary Arts senior took a gold medal in the Culinary Team event; Angela LaRosa, Bakery & Pastry Arts senior took a silver medal in the Garde Manger event; Breanna Unger, Culinary Arts senior took a gold medal in the Culinary Team event

AVON LAKE: Anna Baldwin, Bakery & Pastry Arts junior took a gold medal in the Pastry Tray event

CLEARVIEW: Xavier Speckhart, Culinary Arts senior took a silver medal in the Culinary Team event

COLUMBIA: Casandra McDowell, Bakery & Pastry Arts junior took a gold medal in the Pastry Tray event

ELYRIA: Zarriah Bobbit, Culinary Arts senior took a gold medal in the Culinary Team event; Kim Gordillo, Bakery & Pastry Arts senior took a silver medal in the Creative Cake event; Alaya Hill, Bakery & Pastry Arts senior took a silver medal in the Creative Cake event; Hannah Morgan, Bakery & Pastry Arts senior took a gold medal in the Creative Cake event

FIRELANDS: Victoria Barnett, Bakery & Pastry Arts junior took a gold medal in the Creative Cake event

NORTH RIDGEVILLE: CJ Howard, Culinary Arts senior took a silver medal in the Culinary Team event; Erika Shaft, Bakery & Pastry Arts senior took a gold medal in the Garde Manger event.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private schools through grade 12.
