Institution names Officer of the Year
Pat Mariano, of Grafton, is the 2018 Correction Officer of the Year for the Lorain Correctional Institution.
Mariano, who was announced by LorCI Warden Kimberly Clipper, was selected by a panel of his peers for his leadership, dedication, and commitment, according to a news release.
This award is presented to the correction officer who best exemplifies the mission of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, as well as represents Lorain Correctional Institution in a positive and professional manner.
“Officer Mariano recently celebrated his 24th year as a Correction Officer at LorCI,” Clipper said in the release. “Throughout his career at LorCI, he was a dedicated SRT member and worked most, if not all, posts within the facility. His dedication to accomplishing the mission of the department, willingness to assist, professionalism and enthusiasm has endeared him to his peers and supervisors alike.
“He is an awesome reflection of the exceptional staff that we have here at LorCI.”
Each year a statewide Correction Officer of the Year is selected for the Ronald C. Marshall Award from a pool of 25 candidates from facilities across the state. This year that award will be given out on May 4, according to the release.
The selection of the Marshall Award concludes the annual celebration of Correction Employee Week, the release said.
