Avon native Rachael Poling will pitch her business idea of a wearable disease detector to potential investors, according to a news release.

The Hatch is a Bowling Green State University event inspired by the popular television show “Shark Tank” and is live-streamed across the United States and around the world.

During the event, student entrepreneurs will present their business ideas to alumni investors, vying for funds to launch their businesses, according to the release.

In the sixth year of the event, to date, more than $500,000 has been committed to student startups, the release said.

Poling’s wearable disease detector is a device that can detect geriatric diseases at an early stage, according to the release.

The device can help detect health issues sooner and create a better quality of life for individuals affected by these diseases, the release said.

Poling is an applied health sciences through Bowling Green State University’s College of Health and Human Services.

She is actively involved in RallyCap Sports, an organization providing sports to young people with special needs.

The Hatch is free and open to the public.

It will take place at 6 p.m., April 19, at BGSU’s Perry Field House.

The event will be livestreamed at www.bgsu. edu/thehatch.
