U.S. elected officials must deliver results
In the May 8 Primary Election, we will be heading to the ballot box to elect representatives who will be responsible for upholding our Constitution.
Sadly, for the past several decades, that has not happened. Our incumbents have made no attempt to balance our budget. In past years, spending has not been provided for our military readiness. The defense portion of the present budget increase is necessary for our national security.
There are many other discretionary spending programs that should have been reduced. Our incumbents were afraid to be blamed for a shutdown of the federal government. I say, shut it down! Remember the last government shutdown? All “non-essential” employees were furloughed. Some, if not all, received back pay. Do any of you know of a successful business entity that has “non-essential” employees? Too many federal departments are staffed with these “non-essential” employees doing duplicate functions of existing departments.
President Donald Trump, in your opinion, may be crass, blunt, etc., but he is a businessperson who believes in results — an attribute that is sorely needed in Washington. Trump is shaking up the establishment. As the saying goes, stir up the sediment in the bottom of the kettle before you pour out the contents.
I will be voting for any person who has been a successful businessman rather than a career politician. Ted M. Rink Avon
