Johnny K’s seeks employee prospects
Johnny K’s Powersports is getting closer to its mid-summer opening in the Midway Mall in Elyria.
One of the signs of progress is the company has started interviewing prospects.
While still under construction in the former Macy’s, the power sport business hosted a job fair April 26 at Hampton Inn & Suites in Elyria for potential employees to fill out applications.
Staff from other locations were available to share information about the openings.
Argie Makroglou, chief financial officer of
Johnny K’s, said the Elyria location will be the company’s biggest out of their four current locations.
Johnny K’s has locations in Brook Park, Burbank and Niles, where there are two.
The Brook Park facility will move to Elyria and is looking to employ over 10 different positions to assist with power sport equipment, parts and service, Makroglou said.
The Elyria Johnny K’s is looking for managerial positions in service, sales and parts, as well as technicians, service writers, parts liaisons, merchandising staff and sales representatives.
Owner John Kalogerou said the company is planning to hire between 20 and 25 employees.
Makroglou said as business grows, it will continue to hire more employees.
Employees who are hired will train at the company’s Niles and Burbank locations to get familiar with the processes, products and culture, she said.
“I think it’s a familyowned business that operates larger,” Makroglou said. “You know, there’s family values, but there’s a lot of opportunities. We sell fun.”
Michael Capito, regional manager of the company, said the Elyria location will expand and offer more services than its other locations.
The Elyria Johnny K’s will carry brands such as Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Polaris, Indian, Scarab and Roxor.
Capito said the new location is a retail facility and superstore, as well as the flagship store.
“What we want to be able to achieve for all the power sports enthusiasts and riders is to be able to help them with parts, apparel and accessories,” he said. “We want to be the go-to place.”
The Elyria location will allow the company to reach more customers on the west side of Cleveland, he said.
With Lake Erie, boating and island locations, Capito said he believes the boat and jet-ski sales will do great.
Johnny K’s will take its customer service and expectations to the next level with “a world class experience,” Kalogerou said.
Brian Lambright, general manager of the Brook Park location, will transfer to Elyria.
In his 35 years of power sport experience, Lambright said Northern Ohio hasn’t really offered anything like Johnny K’s with its size and products.
Lambright said he thinks Elyria is going to be a big destination.
At the Brook Park location, he said he couldn’t provide the service he wanted for his consumers.
Lambright said the Elyria store will fulfill the company’s need of taking care of its customers.
Makroglou said more job fairs could come in the future, however, applications are still available at www.johnnykspowersports.com or indeed.com.
