Lutheran West coach takes BW football post

- Staff report

Lutheran West Athletic Director Ryan Miller announced that boys basketball coach Nick Toth quit. Toth, who was also an assistant football coach, will be joining the Baldwin Wallace football staff.

Another year, another search for a head basketball coach for Lutheran West.

On April 30, Lutheran West Athletic Director Ryan Miller announced that boys basketball coach Nick Toth had stepped down from his position. Toth, who was also an assistant football coach, will be joining the Baldwin Wallace football staff next season.

“The Lutheran West Athletic Department is grateful for Coach Toth’s impact on our football and basketball programs,” Miller said. “The time, care, and attention he devoted to our student-athletes, not only in athletics but in their lives in general, will be greatly missed. The position with Baldwin Wallace is well-deserved for Nick and we understand and support his decision. Looking toward next year, we hope to build upon the foundation Coach Toth has helped to develop.”

Toth’s departure cuts his time at Lutheran West 10 days short of one year. In his lone season at the helm of the Longhorns, Toth led Lutheran West to an 8-14 record.

“I’d like to thank Lutheran West for welcoming me into its athletic programs and its community,” Toth said. “I will certainly miss working with high school level athletes to develop their games and their capacities for leadership and competitiveness. However, I’ve been offered a fantastic opportunity and I’m grateful for the support I’ve felt thus far from the Lutheran West community. I look forward to watching their football and basketball programs grow and thrive in years to come.”

The search for Toth’s replacement will begin immediately, Miller said. Varsity assistant coach Luke Toth will serve as interim coach.
