Lorain man facing prison for distribution

-

A Lorain man faces at least 20 years in prison after a jury convicted him of selling fentanyl that killed a 23-year-old Lorain man in 2016, according to a news release.

Russell Davis, 51, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 29. The jury convicted him on one count of distribution of fentanyl that resulted in death, the release said.

Davis sold fentanyl to Jacob Castro-White that resulted in Castro White fatally overdosing on March 7, 2016, according to trial testimony and court records, according to the release.

“Aggressively prosecuting people who profit from selling the drugs killing our friends and neighbors is a crucial component to overcoming the opioid epidemic,” said U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman. “The Lorain Police Department, FBI, The Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office are all to be commended for their diligence in this case.”

“It is almost a daily occurrence to hear of a death due to heroin or fentanyl,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony. “Law enforcement will continue to work collaboratively to hold accountable those that bring this poison and destruction to our communities.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert Corts and Vasile Katsaros following an investigation by the FBI and Lorain Police Department with assistance from the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office, the release said.
