Rockin’ on the River adds party tent

- By Zachary Srnis

Black River Landing is gearing up for another summer of providing a quality music venue in Lorain.

On May 10, crews added another incentive for patrons.

“It will be a 30-foot-by30-foot tent that is free for any business or group that wants it,” said Bob Earley, promoter for Rockin’ on the River. “You just need to call ahead to reserve it for any concert.

“We have a lot of new stuff coming, but we are still focused on providing great concerts at a great price.”

Rockin’ on the River weekly summer concerts will take place at Black River Landing, 421 Black River Lane, Friday nights and some Saturday nights from May 25 to Sept. 1.

“This is our fourth year doing this and it will be another awesome summer,” Earley said. “Basically, it is phenomenal talent, the likes of which you can’t find anywhere else around here, playing at a venue that rivals that of Blossom Music Center (in Cuyahoga Falls), and it’s only $5 to get in for all Friday night concerts.”

Earley said the concerts last year averaged 5,000 people.

“The concerts have grown in size and it feels like this year has even more buzz around it than last year,” he said. “The value of being only $5 is what we want to be known for, and I think people are finally realizing that they have great, affordable summertime entertainment right in downtown Lorain.”

Earley said Rockin’ on the River also offers season tickets.

“If you paid for all 19 concerts individually, it would cost roughly $130,” he said. “That’s not bad and probably less than you’d spend anywhere else for just one night.

“We did, however, want

a way for someone who was going to go to every event to save some money. The season pass is $80, which is a great value.”

Earley said there also will be a VIP section this year.

“It was an idea that we kicked around and felt like it was the next step for Rockin’ on the River,” he said. “All legitimate venues have VIP sections and we wanted one for ours.

“The VIP, which is $300 and will also include the season pass, will include parking in the lot north of the Black River Landing

Transportation Center, a VIP lounge with a bartender (inside the transportation center), a concierge, and a spot in the grass with lawn chairs dedicated for VIP use only,” he said.

“We still have five more VIP spots left, but it is something that we are very happy to be adding this year.”
