The Lorain Police Department has charged three in connection with an investigation into a minor female who falsely reported on May 14 she was being held against her will, according to a police report.

According to police, the father of a 17-year-old girl reported receiving numerous text messages claiming to be from his daughter, saying was she was being held against her will by a 25-year-old Lorain man, the report said.

In the messages to her father she claimed she was being “beaten/abused, forced to walk around barefoot,” in addition to not being permitted to leave the residence, having torn clothing and having her phone access restricted, according to the report.

The father told police he approached the residence located in the 2100 block of Lorain Drive in Lorain prior to the arrival of officers, and reported hearing a male he believed to be the person in question say, “shut the (expletive) up, and get to the back bedroom.”

Upon arriving on scene at about 1:20 a.m. on May 15, officers set up a perimeter and knocked on the door for 15 minutes before entering the residence, the report said.

A nearby resident told officers she had seen a young white female staying at the residence for about one month.

The 25-year-old male told police upon entry the minor female was not at the residence, stating she had left earlier in the evening. He stated he was trying to “help a friend out,” and had not seen her since she left, according to the report.

Two other occupants of the residence both claimed there was not one else in the residence, the report said.

In a search of the residence the girl was found hiding in a closet. She initially lied to police about messages she had sent to her father before changing her story and admitting the male was not harming her, but made up the accusations due to a personal dispute with him. She was issued a summons for unruly juvenile and obstructing official business.

Denver H. Malcomb, 25, of Lorain, is charged with obstructing official business, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is currently being held at Lorain County Jail.

Ivor Kimble, 59, and Joyce C. Kimble, 52, both of Lorain were charged with obstructing official business.
