No. 10 Padua vs. No. 1 Firelands What: Division II Parma District final When: May 16, 5 p.m. Where: Cuyahoga Community College West, 11000 Pleasant Valley Road, Parma

For the record: Firelands (23-3) has come from behind twice this postseason, most recently in a walk-off win in extra innings over No. 4 Rocky River on May 15. The Falcons, Ohio’s third-ranked team in D-II, have gotten clutch performances from their heavy hitters including Calvin Stull and Alex Brill. The Bruins (8-17) upset No. 3 Brookside, 4-2, in a district semifinal May 15 and will have its hands full trying to contain one of the state’s best power-hitting lineups. McNees’ pick: Firelands No. 5 Lutheran West vs. No. 1 Elyria Catholic What: Division III Lakewood District semifinal When: May 16, 4:30 p.m.

Where: Lakewood High School, 14100 Franklin Blvd., Lakewood

For the record: This is the rematch Elyria Catholic (17-6) has been thinking about since last season’s stunning upset when then-No. 4 seed Lutheran West beat the top-seeded Panthers in a district semifinal. Elyria Catholic recently had its Great Lakes Conference winning streak snapped at 34 games in an 8-3 loss to Holy Name but the Panthers have been absolutely crushing the ball to the tune of 223 total hits — nearly 10 hits per game. Meanwhile, Lutheran West (12-8) has won its first two playoff games by a margin of 36-3. John Smolik threw a complete game in the sectional final to remain undefeated on the mound and the Longhorns will need another masterful pitching performance to pull off the upset again against the No. 1 seed. McNees’ pick: Elyria

Catholic

No. 6 Wellington vs. No. 2 Kirtland What: Division III Lakewood District semifinal When: May 16, 7 p.m. Where: Lakewood High School, 14100 Franklin Blvd., Lakewood

For the record: Wellington (15-9) is on a six-game winning streak including a 6-3 upset of No. 3 Clearview in a sectional final on May 10. The Dukes have taken advantage of quality pitching and some timely hits to win in the postseason and will need all of that and more to continue their streak. Kirtland (12-11) beat Beachwood, 10-0, in a sectional final and has the advantage of a more restful week than Wellington which played four games last week including three in a row from May 9-11. If the Dukes continue to play with the confidence they’ve showed thus far they have a great chance at advancing to their first district final since 2015. McNees’ pick: Wellington McNees’ record: 20-5
