In partnership with the City of Avon Lake, Design Engineering, Inc. will host the third annual Cruise-In from 4 to 8 p.m. June 16 at the Weiss Baseball Fields, 33401 Webber Road, according to a news release.
The 2018 Cruise-In will feature a wide selection of classic to modern vehicles — including a number of hot rods, motorcycles, imports and modified lifted trucks. Admission and parking are free. The first 150 participants will receive a free event dash plaque, the release said.
The event was developed by Design Engineering at its headquarters in 2016, gaining the attention of city officials.
The Cruise-In has always supported the Lorain County Friendship Animal Protective League. This year, T-shirts are being sold with proceeds benefiting Love-A-Stray, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to pet adoption. In addition, the Cruise-In will host a 50-50 raffle, according to the release.
“Every year this event continues to grow both in the number of attendees and booths as well as footprint in vehicles,” said Tom Miller, Design Engineering’s vice president of sales and marketing. “This year we are excited to add a swap meet. We have had so many people in the community thank us for hosting this event with the city and tell us how much they enjoy it. This is just one way that we can give back to a good cause and get to know our neighbors.”
In addition to the car show and swap meet, organizers added there will be a number of activities planned for kids of all ages.
Local car-scene DJ Frank LaManna, will be on hand at 4 p.m. and throughout the evening.
“Come hungry too. We have some great food trucks that are returning to provide food during the event, including Jones Bones BBQ,” Miller added.
Tent and table booth space is still available. A 10by-10 space rents for $200 and a 20-by-20 one is available for $375 with an additional 10-by-10 available for $150.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for noon to 4 p.m. June 17.
