JVS Culinary students receive state honors
Students from the Lorain County JVS Culinary Academy recently participated in the state competition of Family Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) in Columbus, Ohio.
Six students will be advancing to the national competition in Atlanta on June 28.

AMHERST
*Kailey Hoopes (Culinary Arts senior) placed first in the Culinary Team Event and placed second in the Career Investigation Event; Angela LaRosa (Bakery and Pastry Arts senior) placed third in the Garde Manger Event; *Breanna Unger (Culinary Arts senior) placed first in the Culinary Team Event.
AVON
Megan Doman (Bakery and Pastry Arts senior) placed sixth in the Entrepreneurship Event.
AVON LAKE
Anna Baldwin (Bakery and Pastry Arts junior) placed third in the Pastry Tray Event.
CLEARVIEW
Emily Smith (Hospitality Services B senior) received a gold medal in the Product Development Event.
COLUMBIA
*Anthony Dodig (Culinary Arts junior) received a gold medal in the Web and Graphic Design Event; Casandra McDowell (Bakery and Pastry Arts junior) placed fifth in the Pastry Tray Event.
ELYRIA
*Zarriah Bobbitt (Culinary Arts senior) placed first in the Culinary Team Event; Hannah Morgan (Bakery and Pastry Arts senior) placed 1st in the Creative Cakes Event; Casandra Strawderman (Hospitality Services B senior) received a gold medal in the Product Development Event.
MIDVIEW
Marissa Ziegler (Bakery and Pastry Arts senior) placed sixth in the Entrepreneurship Event.
NORTH RIDGEVILLE
*CJ Howard (Culinary Arts senior) received a gold medal in the Web and Graphic Design Event, placed second in the Job Interview Event, and was recognized as an Outstanding FCCLA Member with 314 logged volunteer hours; *Timothy Livingston (Culinary Arts senior) placed first in the Applied Culinary Math Event; Erika Shaft (Bakery and Pastry Arts senior) placed second in the Garde Manger Event
FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical organization for students in family and consumer sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life — planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication.
