Elyria police are working with the Sheriff’s Office on four armed robberies over the last four days.

The Elyria Police Department is working with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office investigating four armed robberies that occurred over the last four days.

The first robbery occurred at 4:46 a.m. May 28, when a hooded, short and thin white male, with blond hair wearing all black robbed the Speedway at 710 Griswold Road, according to Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino.

The female cashier told officers the suspect ordered her to turn around and open up the cash register, Costantino said.

She turned to see the white male pointing a handgun at her, and she complied with his request, he said.

The male took an undisclosed amount and fled the scene on foot, the captain said.

The second robbery occurred 9:34 p.m. May 28, at the Elyria BP, 204 E. Bridge St., when a white male in a green hoodie and blue jeans told a female employee to get behind the counter because he was robbing the business, Costantino said.

The woman told police the suspect then lifted his sweatshirt revealing a handgun tucked within his waistband, he said.

She described him as a blond, weighing about 150 pounds and short, Costantino said.

The clerk saw the suspect flee the scene, after taking an undisclosed amount of money, in the direction of Ridgelawn Cemetery, 285 Columbus St., Costantino said.

Sheriff’s Office Capt. Donald Barker said a suspect fitting the same description recently robbed two convenience stores in two townships.

The first incident was 11:51 p.m. May 27 at the Convenient, 42163 North Ridge Road in Elyria Township, Barker said.

The second robbery occurred at 12:32 a.m. May 29 at Circle K, 705 Oberlin Elyria Road, in Carlisle Township, he said.

Both of the instances involved a white male, thin, short and dressed in dark hoodie and jeans pointing a handgun at a cashier, taking an undisclosed amount of money, and fleeing the scene on foot, Barker said.

“We are currently working with the Sheriff’s Office to see if the four armed robberies are related or separate instances entirely,” Costantino said.
