Pretrials for Lorain men held in capital murder cases
The pair of Lorain men accused of a brutal murder had their first pretrial May 29.
Lorenzo Garcia, 31, and Antonio Martinez, 25, are facing a slew of charges including multiple counts of aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping in connection to the March 27 stabbing death of 67-yearold Linda Wisniewski and the shooting of a 28-yearold man in the back of his head in an Amherst Avenue home in Lorain.
Martinez’ and Garcia’s court-appointed counsel met with Lorain County Assistant Prosecutors Anthony Cillo and Laura Dezort and Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark A. Betleski behind closed doors.
According to entries filed with the court on the meeting, prosecutors are required to provide discovery materials to the defense attorneys by June 25.
The defense attorneys are required to provide their discovery materials to prosecutors by July 30.
All motions in the case must be filed by Aug. 31.
The next pretrial is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. July 2, before Betleski, according to the entries.
Wisniewski and the other victim were found in the home after a neighbor called about a possible burglary in progress, police said.
Prosecutors have said the incident was an extremely brutal murder tied in with a burglary.
A victim was duct taped and brutally stabbed to death, they said.
